Cutting 550 without a knife

I know it's not paracord, but you can cut PVC pipe the same way with masons twine. it actually gives you a pretty clean cut. I was taught by a plumber, by the time I went to the tool box to get a hack saw he had the pipe glued into place. Just thought I would share!

I have used the inner strands of paracord to cut PVC too. It is a great tool for when you don't have room to use a hacksaw.

Paracord may have a high tensile strength, but more than 50% of that strength is provided by the sheath itself which supports about 300 lbs. the other 250 lbs of tensile strength come from the 7 inner strands which support 35lbs each. because the outer sheath is woven from 32-36 strands and provides more than half the tensile strength of the line, paracord is a poor choice for abrasive applications because once that woven sheath is damaged it deteriorates quickly and leads to line failure.
