Up for grabs is my personal cutting comp knife. I used in at Jose's place this summer in the cutting comp and it did well! (my performance was just OK!)

Steel- 5160 about 59 Rc Heat treated by peter's heat treat

Thickness- 1/4

OAL- just under 15"

Blade- just under 10"

Handle- Horse stall mat

Sheath- kydex (currently the sheath is only meant for the competition, it scratches the blade up, but it is meant to be used after all. I can either make one for carry, or one in leather for 25 bucks extra.)

Asking 275 shipped to you. I will be making more of these since it is so much fun to do the cutting comps and they make a great camp knife as well. Next up is .300 5160.

do they not allow a pointed blade, cause every chopper i see is cleaver shaped

I believe they allow a pointed blade but what use is a point in a cutting comp? These knives are Ferrari's of the knife world. If it doesn't help/have a use lose it.

Looks like a high performer - tell me a little about the grind - I can't tell from the photo - is it concave? If so, what radius wheel did you use?

i was thinking from more of a 'dual purpose' [point of view...a capable chopper in 'knife' form, pointed tip and all

I don't think i've seen a .300 thick chopper yet. I've been kicking around the idea of a chopper, very much like the one pictured but with more of a knife design, drop point or nessmuk style tip, angled grip and all, basically the same thing you have here but with more of a knife look to it and slighter exaggeration of the grip heft/pommel.

Have you designed anything similar to what i described above?

It is a full flat grind. I have designed others that are similar but pics/drawings sure help. .300 is what a lot of the guys are using for their choppers. A little more forward weight sure helps. Dan
