Cutting Damascus "loafs"

I'm wanting to try some feather pattern Damascus and was wondering what the best way to cut the billet length wise once it is forged back together? I have a metal cutting bandsaw, but it is a vertical saw and I don't think it would be favorable. Would a slitting saw on my mill work?

Depending on the specifics of the machine.
That is if its set-up is capable of long & reasonably accurate cuts. Either will work,
Depends how much material you are willing to lose in the kerf.
