first time working with g10 my question is how to cut it do you cut with the grain? or against the grain? if that makes any sense? i have a block of natural g10 that i want to cut off of do i cut with the layers? or against?

I use a dremel with a cut off wheel on low speed and I have never had any issue with going with or against the grain. The only thing I have had a issue with is going to fast and burning it. Male sure you wear a respirator, cut on a fairly slow speed and you should be just fine. Again this is using a dremel I have never used anything else to cut it.

I think you can cut it at any angle you want and it will be fine. I have cut up a few blocks of Jade and Black for firestarter handles and it went great.

I use a tile saw, they seem to work great with G10 and Micarta. As far as ripping a block down to scales goes I would just buy scales instead; that is unless it was free or if you have a good cutting setup. (it is hard on equipment)

Good luck with everything and I hope this helps!

As to your question, all depends if your cutting the outline of your handles or thinning a set of scales.
