Cutting platen glass

I actualy cut glass like that in a 45degree angle so it can be attached by dove tailing.
Just used a cheap diamond cutt of wheel in a Foredom.

I had to have a door window with webs in it replaced when it suddenly ended up going to a million and one pieces. They came, went, and phoned to tell me the cost. I asked them about the ceramic glass costs. I was very surprised that these people had a total square inch cost with no charge for further cutting into the 6" X 2" pieces I needed. A friend has cut me a couple of "tile" pieces. I will try them but expect the glass will still work the best. By the way if you grind a lot, especially contour grind you can expect to see a groove of a type form on the glass. It will be time to replace the glass so having a spare is a good thing.

Hi I am a noob but I got a piece of the same glass from my Fireplace dealer. I scored it with a glass cutter and snapped it with my fingers, first try. It is basically the same glass as pirex. One thing most people who haven't cut much glass try way to hard to score it. Don't go over the line more than once. Don't push too hard you should hear a slight scraping noise as the cutter moves on the glass. Also it is hard to cut a 2" strip off of a 8 or 10 inch piece. it is easier to first cut a 4" piece then cut that in half. When you are using the wheels and such you are making micro cracks that can spread any way the want. Vic

Maybe that was my problem, I went after it with the glass cutter. I was pushing really hard and went over the line a bunch of times which made a kinda gough.
