Cutting Saw Teeth?

I have a request for "a better bone saw" and I said, 'Well, I'm probably not going to make you a saw but I'll try to think of something.'

It's for my brother and the problem is the saws he uses have the handle low or positioned awkwardly.. so I said what if the handle was positioned like a hack saw and he thought that might work.

so I was thinking I could heat and bend a piece of 1/8" x 1.25" 1084 and bend it into a chevron with the short leg being the handle.

the only problem is how do you cut saw teeth to cut bone effectively? Are there any design or tutorial pages out there, I didn't find anything.

Would I and he be better off if I just make some stout sort of 'axe knife' out of 5160 that he can just hammer through without worrying about ruining a good hunting knife?

Thanks.

Steve

Scroll down to Bone saw. I've used this type of saw to process many many whitetails and it will zip right through bone, meat, brains, antlers or whatever part of game you wish to cut. If he's looking for something to use in the field such as for splitting the pelvic bone you can pick up a small folding hacksaw the size of a pocket knife for a few bucks which will make quick work of cutting bone.

Just some thoughts from my experience -Josh
