I have never used G 10 but I just bought some .060 sheet stock for a kitchen knife project. How do you guys cut that stuff up ? My understanding is that it is pretty abrasive and not gentle on cutting tools

i just use my portaband with the same metal blade i use for blanks. It will dull a regular bandsaw wood blade in a hurry.

Bimetallic bandsaw blades, laminate table saw blades, or a hacksaw for small pieces. Use eye protection and a good fitting respirator/dust mask or you'll cough like a chain smoker for a few days.

I have not done this myself, but my understanding is that G10 dust is extremely toxic. I would be less worried about the coughing and more worried about the lung cancer myself.

.060 and under cuts pretty easy with a scissors.

For thicker stuff I use a cheap wet tile saw, cuts down on the dust and makes nice clean straight cuts. For small pieces I just use a porta band or hacksaw. For liner material I use medical trauma shears.

Perhaps not so much chemically toxic, at least no more so that any epoxy based substance, but it is made from glass.

That thin you could use some snips.

I have some leather shears. Do you guys think those wood work?

My understanding is it acts like asbestos, which makes sense, since it would be finely ground glass particles mixed with epoxy dust. It will produce some mild respiratory distress when inhaled, but basically you're inhaling finely ground carcinogens used to bind together finely ground glass fibers.

I just read an interesting story about fiberglass dust from the WTC being the single biggest ongoing chronic health problem from survivors and first responders. Similar effects.

Well, I got my .060 G-10 today. It felt bit stiff to use scissors, so I used my metal cutting band saw that needs a new blade to cut off two 3 x 5 pieces. Cut like BUTTAH!!!! It took longer to don my little disposable dust mask and plastic face shield than it did to actually cut the stuff. So question answered. ;)
