Thank you
Brad

During a certain era of Spyderco's history, they occasionally released a model for sale as an "Experimental" before settling on a name and putting it in the catalog. Some later received regular model numbers and names and made it into regular production, others did not. The CX02 was one of those, or, more accurately, three of those. The G-10 and all stainless versions became versions of the C62 Navigator without modification. The Almite coated aluminum handled CX02 was modified by adding vents to the handle before being relabeled as a C62 Navigator.

Which version do you have Brad?

I have the Blue Almite PE..So does the 02 designation mean it was the second Experimental?? What year was it made?
Thanks

The CX02 was probably the second Experimental to be released. The first was probably the CX01, which became the C61 Pegasus. I say probably because I have no positive proof, and because regular Spyderco models have sometimes been released out of numerical sequence. As for dating them, I have something that states the CX01 was introduced in '96, so I'd guess either they both were, or that the CX02 came out in '97.

If you want some more info on the CX02, you might consider downloading the 1998 Ironstone catalog from Ted van der Voorde's website.
