Cyclone slow... Blur fast... Why?

I stopped at lunch today at the sporting goods store and tried the cyclone again and on further review, it IS faster than the previous time I tried it.

I would have purchased it today but at the ripoff price of $70 I decided to pass. They did have the stainless leek (1660?) combo edge on special for $29 but of course they were sold out! I also stopped by the SOG factory store thats a mile from my house ( first time) to look at a twitch xl ($100) but I did not see any thing better than what Kershaw offers. The girl behind the counter did not seem too motivated to show me any knives so I left. I was told later by a friend that they have seconds for less $$ but she never mentioned it.:jerkit: seems You should get a price at least as competitive as the internet at the factory for pete's sake! I'm set on Ken Onion and kershaw anyway!

First class tool for a fair price! ( New Graham , You have a New customer.)

oh and a side note, scrap the "jerkit" smiley. this isnt the place.

It kinda burns me when You go to buy someone's product (SOG knifes) And they act like they are doing Ya a favor to help You AND they have people who Have no Idea What they are doing or selling, so wheres the "Don't waste my *%*#@ time!" smilies? or this is not the place?

Since I'm New here , I'm not sure of all the idiosyncrasies of all the users of the kershaw manufacturers forums. Didn't see anything in the forum rules.
" DO NOT USE JERK IT SMILIES!"

crystal clear:cool:

sockeye, I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread or not, but it seems that all of the SpeedSafes loosen up some after time, and will fire a little quicker and feel smoother. When you get yours from NGK (and they are a top shelf dealer!) if it seems a little slow out of the box, just play with it for a few days...you'll find it will fire quicker after some time. Remember, these are put together by hand, and the tightening of the pivot screw may differ slightly from knife to knife.

Excellent choice in both a knife and a dealer!

Welcome to the drug...:D

In the beginning I was looking at buying a automatic, but You are paying a premium for a knife thats not really any better or faster, maybe even more trouble prone. You look at all the knifes that are out there and Kershaw has the best designs and price, Spyderco is probably there best competition. SOG in my hometown is selling a imported knife thats More$$ and not better than the US made Kershaw!

It irks me that a company states for financial reasons they move manufacturing overseas yet Kershaw (for the most part) manufactures here and is less $$$ than sog!

Excellent point!

Kershaw works hard at keeping and even increasing high quality production here in the US.

Definitely something we should continue to support by buying more Kershaws!

I suppose it depends on much profit is enough. If you look at the ratio of lowest factory worker to highest paid CEO of a given company, Japanese companies typically have smaller ratios than U.S. corporations. They don't respond with knee-jerk lay-offs to Wall Street, either.

I remember seeing My first Kershaw in the early 80's and seeing "seki city JAPAN". I was thinking CRAP., boy, I was WRONG. (My first Knives were Buck and gerber lockbacks.) Now look, Most Kershaws are made Here now. I have some of those earlier japanese Kershaws now and They are great, I guess I grew up! Anyway I would be thrilled to see more japanese Knives compared to all the chinese and taiwanese stuff i see others selling.

I have noticed that the locking mechanism provides some resistance or pressure on the blade as it deploys. That is why when the knife reaches the locking point the lock springs into place. Different locking designs cause different amounts of friction on the blade.

Just an observation.

I think so too, One person said his frame lock leek was faster than his others...
