D-2 Custom from SURSUM Knifeworks

I got the opportunity to check out a few more of John's knives this morning when I stopped by the shop to talk to him.

I like Johns Wharncliffe blades a lot.

This one John calls "a party knife", the bottle opener is nice and the file work is really sweet!

The blade on this one puts me in mind of the Roach Belly, and the cord-wrap over micarta handle has great ergonomics and is one of the grippiest handles I've ever held.

This little one feels great in the hand and I really like the angle of the blade.

I really love the simple lines of this Trout knife, I think it's awesome.

This one is the one I found myself drawn to the most though. The lines, the ergonomics, and the over-all feel just really appealed to me.

I'm thinking hanging out with John could easily become addictive :)

I've got one of these.

I like it as a replacement for a folder, but find it too small in the handle for heavier tasks.

I do think the D2 is well heat treated, better than any of my factory D2 knives anyway.

my those are pretty. great stuff! love the stag and that damascus camp knife is ace. :D

John does some beautiful work, and his price points are very reasonable too in my opinion. For example when I enquired about this knife; D2 steel, roughly 10.5 inches OA with about a 5.5 inch blade, soldered brass guard, micarta scales, and mosaic pins he said about $170.00, or $150.00 with standard pins.

Yeah, John is a lot like me in liking "folders-that-don't-fold".

Having ran a heat treat shop for 15 years John has a great grasp on heat treats. I think he is involved in some of the heat treating for RMJ.

WOW great looking stuff. I like that Wharncliffe chopper alot.

Oh, those are GREAT knives. And your pics are amazing as they give a feel of what's going on. Thank you!
I like all of them, but somehow the little "Butter Knife" attracts me a lot! :)

That wharncliffe may just be the coolest looking trail-clearer I've ever seen! I really like that damascus camp knife too. Primo work for sure.

Thank you for the compliments. Yes John does some really great work.

I spent a good deal of time fondling that butter knife, definitely one of my favorites.

The Wharncliffe chopper is amazing. It has a great feel, with the weight and edge to chop pretty much whatever is in the way.

The damascus camp knife is really sweet and handles really well too. The damascus billet John used for that knife was forged by Ryan Johnson, he does some really beautiful work too.
