Got the prototype golok from David in the mail today. Drunk roommate decided to take another day off work so I went for a hike.
This one is 1/8" 1095, 18" OAL with 11 1/2" of edge. The handle is canarywood, cool stuff. This one is light and thin, only an inch wide at the handle.
The trail I chose is always crowded with sumac and these nasty thorn things. The thorny suckers are a bitch to cut. They are springy and like to come lashing back at you. I have never had any knife that can cut these effortlessly.
Being light and fast the golok did well.
Going up.
Looking into the flat abyss of eastern Colorado.
Saw this cool ass spider.
Tried to find some heavier stuff to chop. The little stuff was no challenge.
This old log was rotted...too easy.
