That's an A1 knife Clint. Beautiful damascus.
Andy, When I heat the blade for hardening I only quench the blade. I let the tang and guard cool slow ( the d-guard and blade are all one piece ). Don't want the guard "hardened" . It can take much more stress this way.
Just finished this one. It's 17.1/4" O.A. The blade is 1095 spring steel 12"L X 2"W X 1/4" thick (3/8" at the blade catchers). The blade catchers are functional but I just put them there to get that " mechanical " look. I like primitive bowies with the brass back brace ( but I don't like brass ). The scales are curly maple. The sheath is heavy duty and overbuilt.
I call it a " Fighting D-Guard Bowie ". It starts it's ride on ebay tonight ( 8/30-9/6).
Thanks for looking,
Mike
