Barton 1# Hatchet with asymmetrical v grind. Perfectly balanced. 185 years old and blade somehow managed to not ever get messed up or resharpened. Still sharp. Laminated poll, laminated v shaped steel bit. I have never seen another barton hatchet even close to the same shape or quality as this one. Or one from the period when he first started producing edge tools in the early 1830s. Let me know if you’ve seen one before. Or have info. Thanks
Picked up this D.R Barton and am curious about its value. picture shows part of the Barton name an some numbers, hard to make out the numbers. thanks Cosmo
The "clean and polish" job certainly didn't help with any collector value the axe may have had!
I have several D.R. Barton tools, and all have the oval 1832 stamp. I use the broad axes and drawknives, and they are quality tools!
I don't have any info about the "straight line" name stamp.... but I'd like to know when it was used!
