Where are some good, cheap places to send some D2 to get it heat treated, air quenched, and tempered to 61-62RC?

Hmmm I wonder how man RC it would come out at if you had them do the Nitriding too??? say's 950-1050f(not sure on duration)

Peters HT is all I have used the past 4 years quick turn around and great people to work with...They don't get much better than Brad

Paul Bos is $17.00 a blade . He is in Idaho , Peters is in Penn. depending on where you live will affect shipping cost .

It won't lose any hardness if you use the high temper for D2. Almost everyone uses the low temper though.

Thanks for the replies. I've checked out Paul Bos before and just wanted to see what else is out there.
Btw, I'm new to knife making, and this forum, so I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, but what is Nitriding?
Thanks again everyone!

Basicaly a surface treatment that adds wear resisance and corosion resistance, I know my sig p226 has a nitrided stainless slide, and it's by far the best finish ever!!!(well beats the hell out of park/blue) nickle and chrome are probably more durable however.

I temper my slipjoints in D2 at 950F. You'd be suprised at who uses the higher temperatures to temper their blades.

Its a process of blueing/coloring, using nitridee salts

I think I read on that website that this was a controlled atmosphere gas method, and not the salt's.
