Looking for a present for my mother. She spend a lot of time in the kitchen and needs a good cutter. How would this one hold an edge? How is the grip? Let me know your thoughts.

Siberian Dan,

The handle if very comfortable for a kitchen knife. However, the thickness of the blade and the hollow grind will make cutting vegtables larger than carrots a chore. A blade that is thin and flat ground will excel in the kitchen.

One thing that it would be good for in the kitchen is trimming/cutting meat.
