D2 or 4140 for all steel project

If I was going to make a sold handle and head steel tomahawk...which steel would you suggest and why

4140 composition
C 0.38-0.43
Mn 0.75-1.00
P 0.035 (max)
S 0.04 (max)
Si 0.15-0.30
Cr 0.80-1.10
Mo 0.15-0.2

If it were I, between those two steels I would use 4140 for a tomahawk.
I don't believe the D2 will take the impacts of tomahawk usage.

As much as I love D2, this ain't the application for it.

4140 is very suitable, easier to forge and HT too .

neither 5160, (Car or Truck Leaf Spring) or better yet an old American made 24 oz ball peen hammer. pick em up at garage sales all day long for a buck or 2 usually

one piece hawk...so the hammer wont work
