Unfortunately the para was never offered in BG42, only the military.
Also it's great to see a fellow BF member so close, I'm about an hour and a half North of you.

So far I am impressed with my D2 Para. I have cut, whittled, open boxes, sliced veggies & fruit and it shaves like it did out of the box. Maybe I'll have to get the camo S30v just to compare. 
As far as maintenance concerns, a quick wipe off and you won't have any.
