Well, if you can still find the D2 I would say go for that - I'm not really sure of your location or what you will be doing with the knife but that should determine whether or not you will have corrosion problems. In my experience CPM-D2 holds an edge just a little bit longer than s30v. I know some people say that D2 steel is prone to rust due to it's chormium content, but in order for a steel to be considered "stainless" it has to have atleast 13% chromium - D2 has 12% percent  (If I'm not mistaken).
Plus, because it's a sprint run, the price of the D2 Para is only going to go up!!!!!!

Agreed. I've had both, and the edge-holding on the D2 wins over S30V. Besides, it has those pretty FG scales, and the Spyderco Factory outlet still has them on sale (as of yesterday, anyway).

i work on the water but i take care of my knives regularly so i dont think i will have any problem with rust... i do want a blade that holds a good edge though. what do you mean when you say sprint run? sorry...

I would take the D2 over S30V any day, D2 is great stuff :)

Sprint run is just what knife manufacturers call the items that they are only planning on producing limited quantities of. - In other words limited edition. If you're working on the water perhaps you should check out the Spyderco Salt line - They're equipped with H-1 steel which doesn't have the ability to rust...at all. But of the D2 vs. s30v debate, my vote currently leans toward D2.:)

CPM D2 has gotten sharper and had better edge retention for me, so it gets my vote every time.

S90v................

:D Unfortunately the para hasn't been offered in that, the military has had S90V (I believe), BG42, S30V, D2, and I think at first it was in 440C I could be wrong. The para-military only has two options for blade steel, CPM-S30V or CPM-D2.

D2... Its nasty... More tensile strength..
I cut some metal straps with it.. And it did just fine..
