Is it worth it to get a D2 para verses the S30V model? I recently got my first millie, and I'm looking for a more edc version of it. I was hoping that a para would fit the bill nicely, but I'm a little on the fence about it. G-10 color doesn't matter much, actually, the green might blend a bit with my pockets. Comments?

If I was you I would get the cmp-d2 while you still can, I love my d2 para I've EDCed it since the day I opened the red and black box, (might of missed a day or two but 90% of the time I will carry it when I can)

some advantages of S30V over CPM-D2 is S30V is a stainless and will not rust as easily, but if you take care of your para this shouldn,t be a problem with the d2 where it is pretty close to being a stainless.

some advantages of the CPM-D2 is that it is easier to sharpen and it comes with a foliage green grips.

So its really what ever you want, good luck

The D2 para held a much better edge IMO and the FG handles are great... Add a low rider clip from STR.. And you have my favorite spyderco... It may take just a little longer to sharpen .. but its worth it...

Sounds good, thanks. :) Side note: anyone know what the little markings are on the reverse (compression lock) side of the blade on the S30V model?

Are you sure the markings are reverse? I just compared my d2 to the pic an its the same markings on the same side (minus the steel cpm s30v)

I meant that the markings are not on the side with the CPM *steel type* stamp. They are on the reverse (of that) side. Like in the picture. I know that it's Spyderco's tradition to stamp a mark on collaboration blades (T-Mag, Persian, etc), so I was wondering if that was something similar.

That's Sal's logo. He designed it.

If you look closely, you will see the letters S, A, and L.

Btw, Eric's designs are marked with an "E". Manixae, Poliwogs, Scorpius etc show it.

Concerning the original question: I own the Millie in D2, and I just love the steel and the FG handle. Get your D2 Para while you can; I would favor it anytime over the standard Para (which is great too, of course:))

Also... On the FG-D2
The liners seems thicker and the washers were of better quality/material than the S30V versions that I have owned

I see it! :D I wonder why the millies aren't stamped also?

Sal's logo is neat and cool.. I would like to see it on the Military as well. ...Maybe someone heled him design it, and he diddnt want to take all the credit??

AFAIK he started to sign his designs when Eric began to design his own knives.... and the Millie was created well before that. That's why this one (and all the others before) don't have the logo on them.

Having both the S30V and the CPM D2 Para's, I do actually prefer the D2. Seems to hold a finer edge longer.
