All sold, thanks.

The fighters are a heavy duty combat knife designed as a stabbing weapon and built to tolerate extremely rough use in demanding environments.

The handle is ergonomically designed for a standard forward, reverse, saber and pinch grips for an average to relatively large hand. The tang is internally skeletonized. The scales are 3D sculpted CNC machined canvas micarta. The blade is made of ¼” Latrobe A2 steel with a heat treat that has been optimized to maximize strength and toughness. The blade has a swedge grind that creates distal taper and deep fullers that, together with the skeletonized tang, create a relatively light weight package (11.7 oz) that is supremely well balanced with thoughtful and deliberate distribution of mass that gives it a surprisingly light and lively feel in the hand without sacrificing tip strength.

The steel, Latrobe A2, is a high quality domestically produced high carbon tool steel (not a stainless steel) with high impact and torsional toughness. It also exhibits good edge stability and edge retention which make it a good choice for rough use. In this application it will tolerate abuse such as aggressive prying, punching holes in sheetmetal, cutting iron wire and even chopping through cinderblock. Being a 5% chromium steel it is not stainless, but has better corrosion resistance than something like 1095.

Specs:
Latrobe A2 steel, tested 59 HRC, .250” thick at ricasso
Total length 12.75”
Edge length 7.5”
Weight 11.7 oz
Extra grippy 3D machined canvas micarta scales
Black oxide treated 18-8 stainless steel fasteners

Spec Ops Combat Master sheath can be hung from a belt, mounted to all duty belts, is M.O.L.L.E. compatible and jump certified.

There are two fighters and one D2 skinner in this sale.

Rather than just take my word for it I made a video this afternoon to illustrate the unusual durability of this knife:

The D2 skinner is my skinning knife pattern. It is hard (HRC61) and thin and cuts like a laser beam and holds an edge very well. It has a thin high (past tangent) hollow grind that was taken to .013" before sharpening. It was sharpened by hand on oil stones to a fiendishly sharp tree topping acute edge.

I've been perfecting D2 for cutlery applications for years. This has been no trivial matter. I've developed a heat treat that gives D2 fine edge stability approaching that of a simple steel, but with the abrasion resistance and near stainless properties D2 is known for. It is my opinion there is no better D2 than this.

The first fighter in an ACU sheath is “field grade”, “as machined” (with visible tool marks) and dark stonewashed. It has black micarta scales machined in a diamond quilt pattern. $240 Sold

The second fighter in a black sheath is “field grade”, “as machined” (with visible tool marks) and dark stonewashed, then ground on the primary bevels. It has brown micarta scales machined in a diamond quilt pattern. $255 Sold

The D2 skinner has Cocobolo scales and a basic belt finish. It comes with a basic vegetable tanned leather pouch sheath treated with bee's wax. It is extremely sharp. $165 Sold

Shipping in the USA is $5.

If you want a fighter without a sheath you can deduct $40 from the price.

If you want the skinner without a sheath you can deduct $20 from the price.

These knives are unusual because they are completely machined, not ground. I do this in my shop on industrial CNC machine tools. A WIP thread documenting their construction can be found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1048443

I take paypal, cash, check or MO.

Thanks for looking,
Nathan

OK Nathan, I give. I've been drooling over your fighters for awhile. If still available, I'll take the black handled one. I can send PayPal when you're ready. Sending a PM also. Thanks. Mike

Can you give the dimensions and price for the skinner? Thanks!

Fancier,

I apologize for the lack of detail. The skinner blade is 3 5/8", 10" hollow ground, .125" at the ricasso, 7 3/8 overall length. It is sold.

I'll take the brown handled fighter. Coyote brown sheath if you have one? Also can you replace back fastener with a lanyard loop hollow style pin to provide option for a lanyard?

Watching you put that knife through the block makes me cringe....like a woman scratching her nails on a chalkboard.

Very nice! At 61 rc, that should be incredible for a field knife. Hope to see more of these.

Got the hunter yesterday! Sweet! Love it.
Fits my hand well, and workmanship is stellar.
Small, svelte, and well put together. Opposites attract I've heard?

Awesome video Nathan! Can't wait to get mine (picked up one on the Exchange from an earlier run). It's at the sheathmaker getting some pants.

I have one of Nathan's "as machined Field Grade" fighters. The finish on this knife is better than many other fully finished knives.

Thanks for the video, now I don't have to try mine out like that :)

Note:
I own a few knives, and this little hunter from Nathan is fast becoming on of my favorites.
Nathan's work reminds me of Robert Dark and Mike Craddock's stuff. Don't hear much about them,
but get one in hand and "dang, that's nice" pops out.
As always Nathan, continued success. Dozier
