D2 vs BG42???

I just read the thread on heat treating BG42. I would like to know how it performs compared to D2 as far as edge holding. Is it more shock resistant, like say, A2? Would it be good for a larger fighter?? I know it's much more corrosion resistant.

Hiya Doc, give me D-2 almost every time, the only case being corrosion resistance. I havent used a ton of BG-42 yet, but it seems to be a good step up from ATS-34 but still not up to D-2 in edgeholding, but is better in the corrosion resistance factor. That is if both are heat treated properly.......

I'm sticking with the D2 for now!! Most of my customers keep their knives in good shape and have no rust problems. Some return them after hunting season for a buff and sharpen if needed.
