D7 steel?

I was told by a machinist that it was very similar to D2 but with more vanadium & was heat treated like D2. After grinding 4 blades of D7 for a client , I will run if I ever see another piece, It is TOUGH !

D7 Tool steel,

C 2.35%
Mo 1.00%
Cr 12.00%
V 4.00%


Hardening temp. 1850-1950 F
Air quench
temper 300-1000F
approximate tempered hardness 58-65Rc
