Sorry I've been MIA. Just finished a camping weekend with my Boy Scout. My 6-yr-old becomes a Cub Scout this year, too.
 
howdy gents. fishing went well, but not a lot of time to take pics. we limited out on trout and had a great time. I'm thankful for my Prototype Horton Trout Necker :)

probably the coolest part of the trip was when we found a calf in the ditch. we drove by it once and one of the guys said something about the dead calf laying in the ditch. I saw it and didn't think much of it. next time we drove by, I saw it pick its head up!! I told the driver to pull over, so I could go check. It was outside the barbed wire(not sure how that happened and mama cow was standing near the fence. I walked down into the ditch and surprisingly it just looked at me, but didn't move. After a quick assessment(since I know nothing about calves) it looked in good shape, but very much a newborn(still had about 12" of umbilical cord attached to it's stomach)maybe 1-2 days old. I picked it up and carried it to the fence and hoisted it over. I sat there with it for a minute and it eventually got up on shaky legs and walked about 5 yards over to mama, who was waiting on the otherside of a 3' high electric wire made to keep the cows away from the barbed wire fence. I think I earned some karma yesterday, as the little guy(yes it was a boy) probably would have been coyote bait "outside of the wire". Still puzzles me how it got out there in the first place??????
 
My wife just made beef stir fry for dinner (with ginger, lime, yellow peppers, and scallions). I feel so guilty, but so full.:o


Good job Large. You kill a trout and saved a cow. Your even for the weekend.:D

Cool. I had a good weekend, got in some trigger time today, The M4, the ak, and the glock, had a great time, gonna go see Carto to drop off 5 blades in am, for Japanese Wrap.

Trog, Didn't send the flare, we were way east of your vicinity at 1200, it looks like you had a lot of fun, hopefully the girls did too.
