My 8 year old daughter's class is studying American history, specifically westward expansion. The teacher asked them to consider what it may have been like to travel west in a covered wagon and write a short essay about what they would have brought with them. She wrote the following (without any prompting from me, I swear!)

"If I was traveling in a covered wagon during the 1800s I would bring a knife. I would bring a knife because I could use it to help me catch food. I could also use it to get the fur or scales off my food. I can also use it to dig a hole and I can use it to carve wood. Knives can be used in many ways."

I guess she's listening to what I teach her!!

I'm very proud of her. :D

That is priceless, it sounds like something my 8 yr old grand daughter would say.

Excellent! Out of the mouths of babes, eh? Reminds me of my favourite, the one about the young boy who forever put the half-full, half-empty question to rest. His answer was, " It depends on whether you're filling it or emptying it."
