Dad's in the hospital

Hey guys. I just got an email from my sister. Mom took Dad to the hospital earlier. He has a number of health issues, and I don't know yet which one or combination is troubling him right now. I know he hasn't been doing well lately and is trying hard not to be discouraged. He says that he hasn't "felt right" since this past Thursday. They're running a bunch of tests now, so I hope to get some updates later this evening.

Any peace or comfort you can send his way in whatever form you prefer would be greatly appreciated.

A sick parent is very difficult to deal with, hang in there.
 
I hope he gets through this with no more discomfort. He has my prayers for a quick and complete healing.

Heard from Mom a little bit ago. Apparently his discomfort started back on Thursday. He had numbness in his left shoulder and down the arm, and he described his breathing as similar to when he had pluerisy. He took a nitro, but it didn't help. We're all a little aggravated with him, because he didn't mention this to anyone until Saturday night. After much hemming and hawing from him, Mom finally prevailed upon him to at least see a doctor. He couldn't get an appointment until next week at the earliest, so, after more stern glares from Mom (I remember being on the receiving end of those looks- shudder) he agreed to go to the hospital.

He's had a blood panel, a chest X-ray and an EKG so far, and is staying overnight for a stress test in the morning, with the possibility of other tests to follow. The cardiologist seems to think the problem is not his heart, although Dad does have a Mitral valve prolapse. That is good news, but only if we find out the cause is something more benign.

AND- How's this for the "When it rains it pours" book- My brother-in-law Dave, whom many of you remember interceding for a couple of months ago for his open-heart surgery, has just been discovered to have a hole in his heart. Another surgery is all but a certainty.

Thank you all, again, very much. I love being able to tell my freinds and family that some of the best people in the world are thinking, praying and caring about them. :thumbup: Ya'll are the best!

That's because we're praying for the best people in the world.

But tell your dad not to be such a hero. He's entitled to complain when he doesn't feel right!
