Dad's knife?

If I told one of my sons to go get my knife they'd give me a confused look, just before asking, "Which one?"

There was a time, when I was much younger, that I could carry the same knife for a decade or more.

Both of those paragraphs apply to me, as well.

I used to have "knife". Now I got "knives".

I suppose I am still looking for "MY knife."
Might have to hurry up and find it. tempus is fugiting.

Yeah, I normally go with a traditional and a sebenza or spyderco. Too many choices to have a go to. I do often hold my daughter (who is 2) up to the big frame on the wall next to my bed that displays all my traditional knives and let her pick what I carry that day. That seems to keep some of the more obscure ones in my rotation. She thinks it's neat though.

This tiny (2 5/8") Case pen knife I bought around 1973 or so. It had been sitting in the pattern box of the Case display at our local hardware store for years I guess. I used it for a year in the mill and my late Dad finished it off (he died in 1998). He used an Imperial Barlow hawksbill when he retired (he always had a big garden garden). I found it in a tool box when we cleaned out my late mother's house. I'm working on getting the rust off.

my dad (for whatever reason, I'll never know) carried an original Gil Hibben Rambo III knife with him all the time. there was never a time he didn't have it on him, for quite a few years. I've seen him do everything with it from processing fish and game, to batonning wood, to having for personal protection (never used, of course. although it was brandished a few times). I have no idea why, he's just a nut. we lost touch for years, and when we finally got back together I gave it back to him (it had been at his parents house for about a decade). what did he do? gifted it away to an almost stranger trying to be cool... man I wish I would have saved it!
