I was wondering how many of you carry on a regular basis while holding a valid CCW as a civilian and what you are most apt to have on you for that quick trip to get gas or to the market for a few things. mjmcdowell

I have my CCW but frankly don't carry that often. A Ruger SP-101 .357 in a pancake belt holster under a jacket sometimes but more often a NAA Guardian .380 in a front or rear pocket holster. I never carry extra ammo, never carry two guns, yes I know .380 is marginal but better a little gun in the pocket than a big gun in the safe at home.

If I am not going to the Post Office, Gym or somewhere that servers alcohol, I will have my Kimber on me. I plan on picking up a new Pistol for daily carry in the near future. Most likely just an HK or Sig.

CCW on a knife thread?

I always, except when flying and that is rare, carry a Leatherman PST, a very small Uncle Henry as a key bob and now my recently purchased BM814, mini-ACFK. On days off or if I go back into town I usually have a 38 special snubbie in a pocket holster although during the winter I often carry a S&W 6944, which is a high capacity compact 9mm in a Kramer belt holster. The pocket holster is so comfortable that I sometimes don't bother to take it off when I get home. Easy and very quick access and can wear with anything.

Since I work at a Postal Plant as a Comp Tech I can't carry to and from work. Not even in the car so during the work week I often go unarmed as far as firearms are concerned.

Sig 239 in a Kramer MSP paddle holster.
Also a New Sun Liberty pouch with a Leatherman Wave, aspirin, dental floss, paper money, paper, pencil, lighter, whistle. A handkerchief is in the left pocket, cell phone in the jacket pocket.

I have a little Kel-Tec 32, but I have never actually carried it. My H&K P7 M8 proved comfortable enough to go everywhere with me. Unless I'm going somewhere I am not permitted to carry I never leave the house without a handgun. I always carry one or two spare magazines for the P7 as well.

Nothing beats a Sig! The only pistol that has never jammed on me is a Sig. I used em' all form Glock, Beretta, Springfield, Kimber ect and the Sig always performed a cut above!
I settled on a 229 in .40.

I have a ccw permit and carry a variety of firearms. However, the p32 is the one that is my "always" piece.

I typically only carry on the weekends, or when I am carrying an overly large amount of cash for some reason. Then it's always my Springfield 1911 TRP (.45). I am looking seriously at the Kimber CDP and Eclipse lines though. Carrying 40oz of pistol around is a pain...but it's still smaller than my H&K USP.45 Tactical.

S&W M29, spyderco chinook, small sebenza, or congress knife. Don't carry the pistol very often. Mostly when I am traveling out of town.

Virginia makes CCW very inconvenient with the BS alcohol service rule, which disallows CCW in restaurants that serve alcohol. You can carry openly if you want to put up with stares and potential LEO curiosity, I generally do not. That hassle often keeps me from carrying on excursions where I really should be.

I'll usually pack on trips to the mall or Wally world, groceries etc. USP Compact 45 in a Kramer horsehide vertical scabbard on a Kramer horsehide gunbelt, or a Galco escort "fanny pack" for summer. Overall I probably have a gun on me 50-60% of the time I leave the house, all the time after dark and anytime I'm traveling to an area of increased risk.

The right answer is 100% all the time, but for me CCW is not the only answer -it's a component of a complete security strategy.

I don't understand the logic, here.
A) A person who is going to attack you won't likely know how much cash you have on you, so he might just as well attack you when you have two bucks in your pocket as two thousand.
B) Do you not wish to be able to defend yourself against an armed attacker simply because you're not carrying enough money to make it worth your while?? You can never know if the guy who decides to rob you plans to kill you too, even after a "minor" robbery. Is it your policy that you would appease a robber if carrying little cash, but shoot him if carrying lots?

Hey, how do we know that these threads are not started by some sort of Big Brother types who are simply compiling data on what we should be expected to respond with when they come a-calling?

peacefuljeffrey,

I guess I should have made myself more clear. I only carry when I can. I work in an office where it is not only frowned upon but now allowed...not even on the premises. And the way the building and grounds are secured I am not really concerned about it there. If I am not in the office I am either in the gym or at home. I am not going to carry at the gym. And when I am at home there are several within easy reach. The only time I am out and about is on the weekends. So that is when I carry.

Also, just because I am not carrying a pistol does not mean I cannot defend myself (far from it) . Or that I am not carrying something else. This thread was about pistols though.

As for your comments about Big Brother...I think you need to chill.

 ;)

Where CCW's aren't 'allowed' for most private citizen's...I carry a sack of Twinkie's, and a quart of milk...

That way, if I get attacked by any fat little mall ninja's, I can buy myself enough time to run away...this is a trick I learned on another forum, and from what I hear, it works real well...

(Or, if I'm not feeling particularly generous that day, it'll probably be a SIG of sorts...)

Sorry......to any one who was wondering about my CCW question, be assured that I am not big brother, I have found that many knife fancier's are also licensed to carry a hand gun and very often do, that's all. mjmcdowell
