I'd like to purchase a knife for all-around carry while I'm at work (in
an office).

So the main purpose would be letter opening, fruit peeling, rope cutting
etc.

The knife should
- has price tag about $100 (max.)
- be little/flat (& short) enough (5" or more is far too much)
- preferably ride low
- belong to "ever-lasting" company (maybe titanium liners, ATS34 blade
or something like that)
- not has tanto blade, something else, please
- etc.

Which one of the following would do my job best?
- Benchmade Mini Sentinel
- Benchmade Mel Pardue Model 330
- CRKT Apache II (or III)
- CRKT S2
- Kershaw Ti-34
- any of these, but ... is THE knife

My blades,Family and sale items.

More knives than you can shake a stick at...Well you could shake a stick at all of em,but yer hand would be REALLY tired.

I would rek'mnd ANY Spydie product for reasonable functionality. I carried the Police Model, then the Delica, then I carried the Native for nearly a year. I loved the locks, I loved the price, and I love the serrations. BUT: I am a tanto fan-and the spydie blade design is in a realm of its own.

For realitively inexpensive, high quality cutting performance, go with a Spyderco.
You won't be dissapointed!

One of the best knives to carry everyday(unless you have to have a pocket clip) is a small lockback from Moki, called the Silver Feather. Blade is under 3" and flat ground out of AUS 8A. Razor sharp right out of the box! Handles are stainless steel and fit and finish are close to custom quality. You can barely see where the blade meets the backspring when open. And, you can get them for under $40. I try to pick them up whenever I see them at shows.

Have you taken a look at the Buck NXT? I have one, and it is an exceptional knife. I've never experienced 'sharp' like this from the factory. I cut myself half a dozen times before I got the hang of it. $28.00 and a great knife. That's from a knife maker. I know I couldn't whittle one out for four times that amount. You owe it to yourself to get one. I'm not kidding. Look at it, buy it, carry it, use it, love it like I do.

"Have you taken a look at the Buck NXT?"

I vaguely remember seeing a picture, probably in Blade magazine. But I can't find it on the Buck website. Did they give up on it?

Why not look at the REKAT PioneerII or Carnivore Cub? Both are about $100 on the internet, blade length of 3.25 inches, and there are several different blade shapes available for the Pioneer II.

Take a look at the Benchmade Ascent. It now comes with either clip point or drop point in ATS34. Nice knife for $50 range.
