Daisy AWOL in winter - she's back home

What a great thread!!!
I go through that every time I leave the house!!!
That beseeching look only our pets can give us!! How can we leave them???
Funniest thing?? My 2 maniacs have a seating arrangement! Loki, Malamute, sits in the back & Dexter sits in the front!!
Each ride is an adventure for them!
Can't think of being without them!
My son and I took them to the park yesterday. Dexter is a world champion frisbee catcher!!
Not the best pic, but it'll give you an idea!

Real glad that your pup is back. I know the feeling. It happens every few days with our cats. They are indoor-outdoor cats that wander about. I know that there is always the possibility of one not returning in the evening for their comfy snooze. But I don't like to think about that much.

You hear stories of cats that don't come home for a week and all of a sudden, they appear just like they were gone only a few hours. We had one that did that and of course it was in the middle of a snow storm to boot (about 8" of fresh snow).... didn't come home. Next day I wandered around looking and calling. Yes, they come to their names. No cigar. Well... a couple weeks go by and guess who is wandering up the driveway? I checked her out and it appeared she had a big scar on her underside.... my guess is that somebody's dog took a bit of a liking to her and they took her to the vet all tore up. Then time to mend...

My older brother had a dog that they believed was caught inside their house when it totally burnt down. Weeks went by and somebody about a mile away called as they saw the name on the collar. Amazing.... Found the dog sleeping inside a manger on the straw at some one's house with a christmas spread.... My brother and wife were relieved that they found their dog.

Another fun pic of your Dexter ...

Frisbee is a fantastic energy user-upper ... and the dog does all the running. I like that.

Thanks 22-rimfire,

I get the worry over your cats outdoors. The fishers and owls here are hard on the smaller critters and caused me worry over the six years my mini dachshund was with me (she passed in September). When the snow gets really deep up North, the bigger owls tend to come South for food ... and there was one that took a few dives at the mini right here in the yard (before Dutch came to me ... when she was with dad). She had to be walked after dark and dad kept a gun on the kitchen counter for that walk.

I think the large owls can hit even a medium sized dog with their talons, to break its back. I am open to be corrected on this. Those birds are massive.

Petunia was my parents tabby cat. Indoor/outdoor. They would go on long vacations and leave her outside at home here. Dad built her a nice, cat-sized ramp up the outside porch wall for her to reach the open window. Inside a caregiver refilled food and water dishes every few days. Cat with nine lives indeed. She lived to age 22!

My goodness, your cat had one heck of an adventure ... sounds like the people were good enough to see to some vet care to boot. I used to live on a farm and cats and kittens were dropped off far too often and the dogs were not kind, especially in numbers. Sounds like you have a nine life cat there!

Wow. Your brother's dog sure found a safe, warm bed ... kind of miraculous ... great stuff.

I think a large owl, large hawk, or eagle could certainly do some damage to a small pet. Around here, people blame coyotes on this mostly, but most dogs will chase a cat given the opportunity. The cats have to just get smart (or lucky).
