Dalai Lama on Iraq

I, too, would prefer a peaceful settlement to any possible conflict. I pray for peace in the world but men sometimes make it impossible for even the strongest prayers to be heard and when that happens we have to act accordingly. It's all part of the deal.

I never said I was a good Buddhist but I'll say I'm a practical one.

that sometime before the end of the existence of our species on the earth, we are able to bring What Man Can Be to What He is.

Not in my lifetime.

that it's nearly impossible to be a part of the world and keep your center. I'm inclined to believe it. When I watch the news it really shakes my faith in my two legged brothers. You fine chaps help to remind me that there are still men in this world who are more reliable a good dog. Not counting you guys and a handfull of family and friends, I'll take a black lab over people, any day. I hope that I live long enough to see Mankind achieve something to be really proud of. And until that day, I keep hoping. Namaste, my brothers.

Frank

I don't believe it is a species issue, but rather an intelligence issue. Intelligent, emotional beings belonging to various diversities and interests will eventually-- and always-- act with selfish and fearful recourse.
