Here is the deal,

I put a nice Burt Foster laminated utility/fighter up for sale in the customs section on March 11, 2007.

I get an e-mail that day, saying that Dale is interested in the knife, can I hold it until March 16, 2007, he drops Danbo's name as someone he does biz with, and he will send me out a money order, no problem.

On March 18, I ask him if he sent out the $$ yet, but on March 19, he says no, he is waiting on some other people to get back to him. I say fine, please let me know what's up, when you know something.

On March 25, I get an FYI e-mail, requesting my address, and saying that the money order will go out on March 26. I send a follow up e-mail on March 30 asking for a status update, and have heard nothing since.

I will not do business with Mr. Belk, now, or in the future. Around the same time, I had a fellow from Russia contact me on another knife, and he has been quite communicative and pleasant, especially considering that he is halfway around the world, and english is not his native tongue.

This is the FIRST deadbeat that I have dealt with in over 3 years of BladeForum activity. YMMV, but I highly doubt it.

The first deadbeat?! Steven, all things considered, that's remarkably excellent luck!

Very true. I have been on for a very short time and ran into many people that will send mail "wanting it real bad" and then never mail back. Even with follow up emails- never a word. I'd rather not give my good deals away to those who apparently have no honor. BUT- I have also had very good comms with others, and some understanding from others. The bad always seems to outweigh the good b/c of the bad taste- but the good people stay in your memory in a good place.

I have had 20+ deals with forunites - here and the other place. No problems.

Now eBay ............................

my hard and fast rule...money talks...B.S. walks..bottom line...If you say you will take it I expect money within 12 hours or confirmation that money is inrout via snail mail but paypal is always preferred...cuts the deadbeat factor way down.

He contacted me at my personal e-mail address. I'll find out. My sources tell me "unlikely".

Best Regards,
