Just got my D'Allara drop-point in the mail this morning. Hands down the comfiest knife I own- it combines everything I love about the Benchmade Griptilian with everything I love about the Spyderco ATR. Really glad I got one before they were discontinued!

+1  It has been my EDC knife since I got mine a couple of months ago.

They are great knives and probably the smoothest opening knife that I own.

I have a drop point and a rescue, and for some reason the D'Allara rescue model opens MUCH smoother than the drop point. They are both new, and maybe the drop point will work in over time, but right now its no contest. Any ideas as to why?

I have no idea. I can't imagine the action being any smoother than what is on my drop point.

that's the knife that got me into spyderco. i never got one and now it's too late......sad story.

Really well made,solid knife.
I have both types & like them alot.
There were also talks of a smaller version with a caged ball lock similar to the P'kal.
Any word on that yet?
I think it would do well in a drop point or wharnie configuration.
Anyone else have an opinion?
regards & Happy Holidays ,Rick.

My theory is that the rescue blade has more mass than the drop point...

I have both too. :D
