I'm having a sheath made for a drop point D'Allara. The maker only has the WTC Commemorative version. Does anyone here know whether there are any differences in the shapes of these two versions which would require sending the sheath maker my knife, or will his WTC knife work just fine to mold the sheath around?
Thanks!

It depends on your knife. Sal has made several changes to the model over its production run. If yours is from the newest production run, it will likely be a less than perfect fit.

I've noticed changes to the Rescue D'Allara, but not the drop point. In photos the WTC has the medallion on the grip and a spiderweb pattern on the raised part of the grip, where the standard drop point has has no medallion, and the grip pattern in the in the frn is the newer type like the Endura 4. Aside from theose differences I'm wondering if there are any dimensional differences. My drop point has an oval, not a circle, on it's sides.

I know my Rescue and Drop point have identical handles, but they were produced around the same time, and neither is a WTC knife. Sal did say that some of the changes made were to make the ball lock more accessible, which is what makes me think it may make your DDP a bit loose in a sheath molded to a WTC.

Thanks, Yablanowitz. That's one change I didn't know about. I want the sheath snug, but not "skintight." It makes like easier not to have to send the knife, but not if it won't fit the sheath!
