I didn't realize I dropped it and step on it :mad:
I tried to fix it but it is damaged. Do CRK send out washers or do I have to send the knife in? (I really hope not!)
Cheers

If you really need new washers, you probably have to send it in. But the only way to really know is to call them tomorrow.

If nothing else works shoot me a PM. I may have an extra washers for my 25 :)

Much appreciated! I'll call in the morning and see if I can get it from them
Thanks

PS: the one I damaged is the one with the little hook that goes in the scale hole

Yeah they don't send washers... I would have to send it in and wait 4-8 weeks....
Nikkogi PM on its way LOL!!!

Oh wow that's a bummer. I'd really hate to be without my baby for 4-8 weeks. Looks like you need a backup or two.:D

Their service turnaround is sometimes shorter. I wont quote anything to get your hopes up but the washers ARE handfit to the knife. Sorry youre going through this but I hope the satisfaction of having the hands that built the knife fix your issue overcomes any grief over the wait.

Once I thought I damaged my washer on my 25, the centering was way off, I took it apart flipped the washer, back to dead center.

Oh I didn't know they were hand fitted. I though that because the tight tolerances, a washer was a washer.
Them I'll send it. Thanks!
Thanks for your concerns Scott! I do have some other amazing blades luckily to keep me company. Off course who likes to be without a knife? No one!! Lol

Yeah they're handfit to the point where a drop of water will actually cause the knife to be too tight, hence the grease to keep debris and moisture out. They will take care of you. I would not be surprised if you got your knife back within the month, if not.. I would expect the customer service to otherwise be a pleasant experience of it's own.

Are you sure that they're hand fit on the 25 as well? While I know they are for sure on the 21 with the pivot bushing system, I really doubt they would be hand fit on the 25/umnumzaan with the new conventional/adjustable screw pivot.

Hand fitting washers on an adjustable pivot would negate any efficiency gains from a manufacturing stand point.

In my opinion (and take it for what it's worth) they should send out 25/umnum washers to customers. It's not like you have to start taking material away from the washers to adjust the tension on the action of the blade. You just have to turn a screw. It's no different than taking the knife apart and re-assembling it.

I was about to write the same thing.

You most likely will see it back in less than a month. I sent one back recently and only two weeks after they received it I got the call for shipping info. It was like 3 weeks and day total. Good luck...

Cool! I'll send it next day! Lol

i had a seb 25 washer scare recently as well. While reassembling I didnt realize the hook came out of the hole and it rotated slightly so it was no longer over the hole and I press down a little it slightly tweaked the washer but after correct assembly and tightening down the pivot for a min or two it came out perfect dead center. But during those two minutes I had a brief communication with CRK about replacement and they do require sending it in, see below..

"Yes you can get new washers for your 25 however you will have to send the knife into our shop.
This is because we hand fit each washer to the blade and handle.
I have attached some information and a price sheet for sending your knife into our shop.
Have a great day."

^^ With all due respect to CRK (and god knows I love the company and the knives) I think this isn't entirely true. This probably is a general response they give out to everyone because they do have to hand fit the washers to most knives (all the ones with pivot bushings) and don't want to send some washers out to some customers while they require others to send the knife in for washer replacement/repair.

You won't have me believe that they "hand fit" washers on a knife with an adjustable pivot.

Anyways, OP, I hope you get your knife back soon!
