Damanet Camp knife + special damast

Achim Wirtz one of the best German Damastmakers and some of his friends tried to make some damast without the problems of decarbonization, welding faults aso.

put 330 layers of good german steel in a steel "box"

close the box

put it for 24 hours in a furnace with exact temperature control

take it out the furnace

start forging with a 1000 Ton hammer pressure

this the result

a cut section of the bar

this knife was handforged from this steel and the maker tested it like all his knives with success.

That's a helluva billet!!!!!!!!! Love those big choppers and that looks to be a fantastic knife.....the Damascus looks to be superb, too.
