I really like making these long slim blades. I call it a Mediteranean style dirk, although I am not so sure that is correct. :D

Anyway, it's blade masures 9", and is forged from 1084 and nickle in a two bar twist composed of twisted W's. It has a deep etch for a bold pattern and lots of shimmer. The handle is mamoth ivory that came from the center of a large tusk. It is a light cream color, and very solid. The ferrule is from a 5 bar composite billet of damscus of 5160 and nickle. The knife is a take down, and has a heat blued mild steel finial. It comes with the sheath in the pictures.

If you want a REALLY fast handling fighter, this one will do. Balance is at the ferrule. I cut a few water bottles with it just to break up the days work, and it never failed me.

Price is SOLD shipped CONUS.

Let me know what you think,
:p

Stunning work Bailey, and an amazing price for damascus and ivory from an outstanding Mastersmith! This is so tempting but I must resist .......

Cheers,

Stephen

If anybody is tempted, as you should be, :) just keep in mind, Bailey wastes little of his vast talent on taking the pictures, the point being, his knives always look and are, so much nicer in person, as I know this piece will be to whomever buys it. Wish it could be me, but I'm still recovering from the last one Bailey posted. :)

To pick up a damascus and ivory dirk from a top MS for under $1,000, well, what are you waiting for! :D

Love the knife, not sure about the damascus - why the pure nickel, Bailey?...

Joss,

The nickle makes up a very small percentage of the steel. The nickle mesh I use is only .005" thick. When etched deeply, it looks much thicker since it doesn't etch at all. I also make sure the pattern doesn't have a continuous layer that would jeopardize the blade by relying on the nickle for integrity. That's one reason I use a lot of twist patterns. The steel will perform like 1084, but will develop serations at the edge as the nickle would wear away. Makes it get real aggresive right before it goes dull.

Thanks for the kind words Ari!!

Ooooh ! Thats purty, Bailey. I wonder what my mortgage co would say If I skipped a month ? :-)

Thanks for the compliments my Bruddas

If anyone is teetering on this one, I will accept a reasonable offer, and I can take payment through paypal if that helps ;)
