damascus billets off ebay

at least thats what i was told. he seemed to be very knowledgable about steel and its properties being that braddocks specializes in Heat treating and have several locations nationwide i figured he knew what he was talking about.. anyway he was glad to test my steels at different stages in heat treat and do it for FREE and offer me advice on where to get it to an exact hrc range i was looking for..... I told him if there was a custom knife in his budget in the near future i would hive him a godfather deal... just wish i could have afforded to give him one.

I've been looking at that cheap stuff as well.
My idea was to use it for guards and other hardware where it doesn't matter if it will hold an edge or not
 
Yeah thats what im gonna do from now on as well although you could get lucky and get a good piece like i did with a hrc of 58
