Most folks avoid using Damascus knives for hunting due to difficulty keeping them sharp if they’re used a lot. However this is one Damascus blade that IS ready for use in the field. With a core of 5160 it will hold an edge better than most any other type of Damascus. It’s complimented by Brad Vice’s “Alabama Damascus” thick bolsters which accent it nicely. The Ironwood in the handle is sadly too dark to be able to take a good photo of the unique swirls of orange and gold, but trust me, it’s pretty. All in all, this is a fine package.

Thanks for taking a look and let me know if you have any questions.

I think the knife shape and material fit looks great, along with the sheath. Could you explain the two holes in the bolster? At least they appear to be holes in your pics.

Hey Mark, Thanks.

Yes, they are tapped "holes" for two size 2-56 screws. There is one large and one small on each side. The large is for the head of the screw on that side and the small is tapped to receive the threads of the other screw from the opposite side.

Here is my reasoning: If you use Damascus for bolsters you must have a way to remove them after shaping in order to put them in the acid to reveal the pattern and screws allow for that. If you use conventional pins then you must submerge the whole end of the knife in the acid and in my opinion, no matter how well you rinse and nuetralize there is always a risk of leaving a little acid or water in between the blade and bolster which can result in problems later. I'd much rather avoid the possibility.

I appreciate the comments and question. Take it easy.

THANKS JIM! I see that you are really rocking some Brad Vice Damascus lately. Love your tactical styles in Damascus. Take care.

Another bUmP........

I'm going to have to start sending some of these out to the dealers in Breckenridge and Vail if they don't find a home here. I'd really rather have someone who appreciates knives get them than some unknown tourist...but "Daddy needs a new mini-mill"...;)
