Damascus Blade Question

If rust was the issue with the Turkish blades, go stainless. I don't think anyone has mentioned Damasteel yet. High end Swedish SS patterned steel. Modern powder metal technology. They have suppliers worldwide. A few production companies have used it, but I can't think which.

Stainless damascus and Damasteel are both very expensive to make and to buy , so the likelihood of riding a cheap knife using either is fairly slim. for a single folder blade that is 3.5 inches long by 1 inch wide by 1/8 thick, the US retail price for such steel would be $35-40 just for raw materials.

I went through a phase of Damascus obsession. After being burned twice buying from small knife makers on amazon, I decided for the price of real quality Damascus, I would prefer buying quality high end stuff twice as big and sold by reputable knife makers.

Not to sound prejudiced, but I would run from any knives with links to Pakistan.

If you do make a purchase that you regret, Amazon's return policy is a blessing.

Completely true, jdm.
But the only facts I can garner from the OP is he wants a nice blade, & doesn't like dealing with rust.

Well.my position on rust is that the best way to avoid it is to take care of your freaking gear. :D

Damascus is not a steel, it is a slightly erroneous term for pattern welded steel, which could be anything with carbon and iron in it

My nickel enriched nichols lizard 440c damascus holds a surprisingly awesome edge, could barely put it down yesterday
