One big honkin' Bowie
This bowie has a history....started off with and ironwood handle but I never liked the overall feel of the knife and it was out of proportion....so the knife stayed on the shelf until one day I found a massive piece of sambar stag to match it.
The blade is a hair over 10.5" forged from a billet I pressed of 1095, L6, and 15n20 folded into 180 layers. It starts at 5/16" thick with a full taper. The guard is a serious chuck of nickel silver with a thin brass spacer between the two guard pieces. Handle is of course Sambar....one big piece of stag too! Overall length goes at 16.5"
The blade is fully hardened then torch drawn on the spine....then double tempered.
Surprisingly the knife doesnt feel that heavy....the balance lies right at the forward edge of the guard. I took a pic of the knife in my hand to show that it is a bit oversize....so keep this in mind if you are interested.
Very sharp and has a sharpened clip too...scares the hell out of the natives!
Other than the huge size....the only drawback I have with this one is that the namestamp (the blade was made when I was hot stamping) got polished out a bit at the "C" in Covington....it is there...but a bit faint. So if you don't mind owning an original "OVINGTON" knife...then this is for you! I am adjusting the price a bit for that reason.
No sheath...but will ship with a padded case.
She is SOLD
