What's going on with your most recent picture is that you're seeing a line of decarburization at the weld boundaries. Don't sweat it. Keep working at a high heat and you'll be fine. After some more work those decarb zones will most likely go away due to carbon diffusion. From here it looks like you've got some good, clean welds going there.
