Well so far it's been a great class!:D Steve Dunn is a GREAT teacher. Here are a couple of shots of what I've done the last couple of days.
The smaller blade will be tested to destruction.
Let me know what you think.

Very nice indeed.

I think its a shame to test damascus to destruction. But testing is testing

Lucky guy! Looking good Mace, really good. I like the pattern on that bowie as it get's finer towards the edge.

Boy...today flew by! This damascus is fun but can be very disapointing. I had a beutiful LARGE Bowie of 352 layer random that was "waffled" with dies in the press. The way this is done you forge a profile of your blade from the bar and leave it thick. Run it through the dies....grind your preform flat...clean the profile and grind the bevels in. By grinding the bevels in it shows the pattern in the steel much better..so, there is an awfull amount of grinding. I ended up with a Real nice Bowie after spending most of the morning grinding this one blade. Only to find a bad weld about a third of the way back.
It is now a short akward looking fighter! So I took my frustraitions out on a "W" pattern bar and a low count random twist folded onto itself a couple of times. Tomorrow I'll take it out on whats left of that bowie.

Having a great time.:D

So.......are you going to try to bribe Mr. Dunn into teaching you how to do that feather pattern after school?:D

Hey Joe, We talked about feather pattern today, but not sure if I will get any done before the end of the week.

I decided not to bend that one above and will do the one that busted my chops today instead.

Here are some more pics for your enjoyment. :D The one in the center will be the new bender.
