Damascus Drop Point (withdrawn)

Greetings,

Well to clarify where the billet started out... was probably some where in the Ukraine could be India. I purchase the billets and grind them
to a pattern I have cut from steel. I etch them with Ferric acid, use a Foredom rotary tool to make quick work of the pattern on the spine.
I'm kind of new to the file work stuff. The are hardened in a charcoal fire and oil quenched, I use a torch to temper the blade.

Now to address both of your questions... Yes the billet is imported. And no my previous post for sale was a BK2 from Becker Knife and Tool.
Not real sure where you were going with these questions but for my personal choices Damascus is crap. These blades are ground to an edge and
not forged... Thus you can have several different steel properties in a single knife edge... making it a nightmare to sharpen and keep sharp. The best steels
are laminated.. The countries of Northern Europe make excellent laminated blades, so do the Japanese... My choice of knife steel is D2 or 5160, both are
easy to harden and temper.

I hope this helps.

Question was, Is the knife itself an imported blank to make it more clearly.Thats what we mean by "production" here in the knifemakers section..Because it appeared to be.From the looks of it.
Thanks

you did nothing wrong sir and there is no need to withdraw your offering . All they wanted to know was where did the steel come from . Mostly they wanted to know if this was a pre-made blade and then you finished it or just put a handle on it . You explained that , and stated where the damascus came from .

We makers can be a protective group .

just don't buy knife blanks , throw on a handle and call yourself a knife maker . There have been enough of them around here .
