damascus folder question from inexperienced collector

There's a lot of really good makers out there who can do custom for what the high end Chinese are asking. If you go on the Custom forum and look at Sharp by Coop's thread you'll see some of the best knives in the world, and you may be surprised at what you can get for your money.

What about a Mnandi?

Silver Stag knives have some really good looking Damascus blades.

FIRST, thank you all for your input. I don't really like the Mcusta because it is not really damascus. I (apparently unlike most) don't like the blade shape on a Spyderco. As hackenslash says... I think I would rather have regular blade material on a Sebenza. I want a Sebenza for sure! That Leaves the Kizer Minitherium and Civivi/We blades. I kind of thought that Civivi/WE were inferior knife companies, so I will have to do a little reading on them. I also like the idea of customs as jideta and richard338 suggested and have something really nice. If I can get something in the $700ish price range I think that will be the way I go. I just can't juastify paying $1500 for a knife to look at.

MCusta is "Real Damascus" pattern welded 33 layers with VG10 core.
Unless you are one of those people who consider anything other than Wootz to be "Fake Damscus". a belief that is
generally no longer accepted in the present knife world.

If you don't like the MCusta because of the design, that's fine of course.
But if you don't like it because you think it's not "Real Damascus" you've been misinformed.
