Damascus for springs?

I am getting ready to make my first Damascus slip joint and had a question for those in the know. The piece I will be using is O1 and nickel. My question is, will I have any problems if I use it for the spring as well? I have seen it done with Damascus and I have also seen makers use plain O1 for the spring and etch it to match somewhat.

Those of you that have experience with this please advise me on the most sound method.

Jared, I've done around 100 with damascus springs. Just give em a spring temper and all should be good.

+1 to Don But your damascus has to be flawless. I am not saying yours is bad but thought that I should add that.
 
Thanks Don and Bill. I thought I might be okay but wanted to make sure. This first on is some steel from Devin so I think it should be good stuff.
