Damascus Insingo Sebenza: It might be coming!

So while browsing around the net during work hours (don't judge me, you do it too, don't lie) I came across someone saying that KnifeArt is going to have the Insingo blade offered in DT SS damascus as an exclusive in the foreseeable future. I immediately jumped on this comment with a regrettably snarky response to the effect of "there's been no mention of this from CRK." He said he had spoken to KnifeArt so I decided to call myself and get some more info.

As usual the KnifeArt representative I spoke to was very kind and helpful. His response to my questions were that they do not have a delivery confirmation date quite yet but the exclusive DT Insingo is a work in progress and expected to be in stock in the upcoming months. They're going to be sending out an email with more details as they become available. From what I understand at this moment, the DT Insingos will be setup with KnifeArts signature carbon fiber front scales.

To me, this is a big deal, and I'm sure others are excited too. I've been starry-eyed over the DT blades lately and if I needed something to push me towards picking up an Insingo 21, this is what it was. It should be mentioned that, a large portion of us considered this a non-possibility. This leads me to wonder, what else is possible for configuration variants in the future? Feel free to discuss and add your thoughts.

Happy Monday everyone!

Very interesting. I was scheming up something similar. I hope it's not just the carbon scale though (I really want this with micarta).

Let's hope it all pans out. I wonder if they will be doing a large and a small?

Excellent news, thank you for sharing.
I just hope it moves quicker than the Damascus Tanto that we were told was coming and has yet to materialize.

I'll be in for both the large and small when ( being very optimistic ;D ) they show up, the Insingo is one of my absolute favorite knives.
Now I'll be hoping for Spirograph to make a come back in the CR line up.

Great News. I have hoped and asked for one for quite some time. I still have yet to acquire a regular insingo, but the design looks awesome. Will get one eventually. Again, Great News...!!!

Agreed on all fronts. I'm being optimistic too. I know that no matter what anyone says, until something materializes, it's still just a WIP. Let's hope for good things!

It surprises me that you don't already have one, amongst your large collection. Maybe if this all works out, a DT Insingo will be your first Insingo Sebenza?

Gimme, gimmie, gimmie.....:D

That would be awesome! My dream configuration is a 25 insingo micarta! Anyone else like that combo?

Not a fan of the CF scale, but plain or inlayed Dammie Insingo....... bring it!!!!!

Oh well, (looking fwd to a DT Insingo). Several times over the last couple years I have tried to order a batch (#20) of Damascus Insingos. Order was never accepted. Was told that they do not make the Insingo blade in Damascus, & that CR does not take custom orders.

For the record, my 20 (Basketweave requested) were split between plain & micarta, Lg & Sm. (5 ea). Thought they would go pretty well on BF, plus a couple of queens for myself.

Figured that 20 just was not enough for their notice....

I keep checking the KnifeArt page to see if they arrived, lol. I've been holding out for a small CF damascus insingo ever since this thread started. A small micarta insingo damascus would be nice as well :)

You and me both brother, I'm 100% ready to buy as soon as it hits the shelf, even if it means selling a Sebenza to fund the DT insingo. I'm in for micarta or cf, either is fine!

I will get a kick to the jimmy by the wife if I get a new knife this soon..

It's going to be so worth it :D

We are sick, sick men. I'm not ready to talk to mine about another knife unless I kick one out of my collection.

By that I mean, I simply won't talk about it, its getting bought either way!

Hit me up so we can game plan some charade to hide the DT Insingo purchases when the time comes lmao.

This would be good news should it become a reality. I asked CRK about one quite awhile ago and they stated that they were unable to do one because the insingo has a thinner blade grind than a regular sebenza. Hopefully they can make one with a thicker blade grind like the 21 with a insingo blade profile. Here is to hoping for 2015....!!!

It would be helpful to know a timeframe, so one could plan the funds accordingly.
I wonder how many variations are to be expected...
large/small
raindrop/ ladder/ basketwave damascus ....
plain scales/ carbonfiber scales/ micarta inlays ...

Make mine large with ladder damascus and gabon ebony - please.
