Damascus - Is it just me?

I love the look of Damascus, and recently bought my first knife with a Damascus blade (Umfaan no less…yeah, I’m broke!). I particularly like the high contrast and colored versions of Damascus. I agree that it has to fit with the overall look of the knife; you can’t just slap a Damascus blade on a knife and call it good. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not really fond of the random patterns -- I've seen some of them that are just plain ugly. For me, the beauty is in the symmetry of the pattern and how "crisp and clean" (and no caffeine, LOL) it looks.
