This bowie is as nice as anything I've ever seen.

Are you sure the blade is not the nicest thing that you have ever seen?

Spanish notches are very unattractive IMHO.

Gorgeous knife. He did one somewhat similar for the AKI 2 yrs ago, that has long been a favorite of mine, and this one is in direct line with it. Congrats!
I am not sure this isn't the same one. Joss did you have a photo? Tim gave me a few to photograph at that AKI, but not all.

Peter?

IMHO? Steven, you are rarely humble. :) I like you for this.

Spanish notches done WELL: I like 'em. Depends on the style, of course. This one works for me.

Yep, Damned notches. Throw it in the trash :)

I just keep coming back to look at it. Truely a work of art.

:D Can't agree with you there, but life would be boring if we all agreed all the time. Spanish notches are a favourite of mine and this one is perfectly suited to the other details on the knife (IMNVHO :D)

Cheers,

Stephen

I think a Spanish notch can ruin the lines of a really nice knife. However, I feel that Tim knows just how to do one that works as another fine element to pull the knife together. This one, works VERY WELL for me :D

From a maker's perspective, there are so many things going on in this knife that would be difficult to do... nearly impossible considering the level at which we know Tim would execute them, that this knife just makes my head spin.

One day though... you just watch

Well.... so I hope anyway ;)

I purchased the knife on the secondary market from Arizona Custom Knives. The Bowie is dated 2003 and was originally purchased directly from Tim at the 2003 Blade Show. I did speak with Tim about it, and he told me that he has made three or four similar Bowies.

Tim Hancock's written description of it, is as follows:

"Ladder pattern multi-faceted blade with a Spanish notch and nickle silver tang wrap.
The handle has Damascus, guard, spacers, frame, and bolsters. The liners are nickle silver file worked all around.
The scales are elephant ivory. This is a take down style with a hidden finial."

Best,
Peter

Definitely in the top 10 bowies I have ever seen, and frankly, I don't think I have ever owned a bowie this nice, but then again, so few people do, that's what makes it so special, you must be in bowie heaven lately, I seem to recall you are married, but, how can that possibly be? :D

WOW! I sorta fell in here by mistake, doing a little research for a personal knife purchase and I didn’t even really plan on posting. After I saw that opening pic though, I felt compelled to post. That is by far the most beautiful weapon I have ever seen. Truly a work of art.

I hope you don’t take offence me calling your art a weapon.
