I know they can't be big name knives but they do look nice -- what's the story on them. One of my friends got a Damascus folding knife and it's really nice looking. Are the blades made in some place like India and sent here to have the grips added? I've seen kits for sale that have the full tang and I think the rivet holes are already drilled but no handle pieces are shown.

Some of that *damascus* might be etched/painted on. You never know. Fleabay is not a great place to buy imo.

You know what they say about a deal that is too good to be true?

There are Damascus folders on eBay going for $6. They are either Pakimascus or someone took a stencil and spray-painted Damascus patterns on pot-metal blades.

I don't have any , but I've read good things about Civivi Damascus at reasonable prices . At least functional at reasonable cost .

They look nice enough but you can't get quality Damascus cheap, a good product takes time and knowledge and clean quality steels. Most of these are made in Pakistan and lousy performers
It irks me when I see someone on FB ordering so-called Damascus steel knives from overseas for under $200. A lot of time and work goes into making a Damascus knife, which is why they are so expensive. If you see a cheap “Damascus” knife online, do yourself a favor and look the other way.

Please do not try. I can give you brand names of quality blanks of sure origin, blanking (ha) on my favorite brand right now, but they are Swedish.

Although I agree with all of the above^, I wanted to warn the OP and anyone else new to knives who don't know better, that some unscrupulous people in the US will sell crappy Pakistani knives, or knives made of of crappy Pakistani blades, as "custom" and they will charge hundreds of dollars for them. We've seen that on this forum.

So don't assume that a "damascus" knife being sold at a high price is genuine Damascus, or that it is indeed a quality, custom knife.

When in doubt, ask on Bladeforums first. You could save yourselves hundreds of dollars and a lot of regret.
