When did custom makers begin routinely using Damascus?

Ebay item 260286376796 is described as being made in the 1960's, but the Damascus has an entirely modern look to me.

It was the early 70s that Bill Moran brought pattern welded damascus back into the limelight. In the 60s there certainly wasn't much being done with pattern welded steel, but there were a few knifemakers forging it. The pattern is one that doesn't say modern to me. I think it is quite possible that the knives age is described accurately.
